Ooh ... we miss all of you over there a lot ...

Shopping is done, packing is done (thank you, Daddy)...
Our flight is less than four hours away. Hope we didn't leave anything behind.
Hmm ... actually we left something, er, someone very important. We will miss you a lot, Dad.

Note: there will be no new entry from Mum this coming December ...

(not) a good friday

Yesterday Mum and Kate went to Singapore EXPO, for Asian Children's EXPO. Our main aim was to get the free paperpunch gift set :D. Kate really loves "playing" with paper and the tools (glue, scissors, scotch tape, stapler, etc).

But we didn't only get the paperpunch, we also got this:

Could you guess who is in that picture? Yes, it is Kate, drawn by one nice guy at one of the booths. We also bought a set of Mandarin learning software. Hopefully it would help Kate (and mum, too :D) in learning Mandarin. Kate was having fun, trying some software and seeing this and that.

Unfortunately we didn't have so much time to spend there, because Kate has primary school orientation in the afternoon. So, we went straight to school by MRT. But somehow, Kate left her ez-link card inside the train :(

And at school .... the orientation was supposed to be for new pupils as well as their parents ... but somehow Mum missed the orientation (Kate didn't) and almost missed the re-registration as well :(
Now ... Mum doesn't know what time she needs to send Kate to school after the holiday!! What else did she miss?? *help*

kindergarten

taman yang paling indah, hanya taman kami
taman yang paling indah, hanya taman kami
tempat bermain, berteman banyak
itulah taman kami, taman kanak kanak

That is a kindergarten song (in Indonesia) that Mum and Dad used to sing when they were in kindergarten, more than 25 years ago.

How about Kate? Yes, she really does enjoy her kindergarten years: two and half years in Bangkok and 3 terms in Singapore.

And today is her last day in this uniform:

Yes, she has finished her years in kindergarten. We should celebrate it, shouldn't we?

The school has organized the celebration last Saturday, which was called: "Kindergarten Graduation Ceremony cum Children's Variety Show"

And Kate was very happy being a part of it. Here she was in "Melody of Love".

And this was Kate's "speech" before all the participants sang one of the closing-songs.

"We would like to dedicate this song to all
Daddies and Mummies.

Thank you for showing us your love,

sacrifice your precious time,

working days and nights,

to provide and care for us.

We are proud of both of you.

We love you, Daddy and Mummy."

Thank you, sweetheart. We both are proud of you, too.

Congratulations!

Hope you will enjoy your next grade as much as you enjoy your kindergarten.

another sand castle

Today we decided to play with the sand again. The weather was so nice. We left home quite late and having lunch on the way to bus stop. We need to change bus at HarbourFront Bus Interchange to get to Sentosa Island, the place usually we play sand. When we reached the Bus Interchange, the queue for Sentosa Bus was very long, almost reached the MRT station ... and half of the queue was not in single layer, it was double or even triple. We couldn't imagine how long we should wait for our turn.

How about catching a taxi? Not a very good idea, because we saw from the bus that the traffic to Sentosa gate was quite bad.

How about walking? Hmmm...
It was about 2 pm, quite hot, ... but ... Ok, let's try ...
So we crossed the road (again, bc we came from the bus stop opposite the bus interchange), walked through Vivo City, almost reached the bridge ...

... and ... ta da ...

There was a Sentosa staff "guarding" the bridge. He told us that currently walk-in to Sentosa Island is not allowed, regarding some constructions on the way. He asked us to catch the Sentosa Bus at the bus interchange .... No, thank you ...

Then we decided to catch a taxi ... but the man again told us to go to taxi stand, he didn't allow us to get taxi right over there, where we were... Oh, No ... The nearest taxi stand is at Vivo City and there was a long queue as well (we've passed it)..
*sigh*

We had no other option. We headed back to where we came from .... but we kept looking backward ... not for a long time, there was a taxi coming from Sentosa Island ... we catched it, told the driver that our destination was Sentosa Island ... and the taxi driver just made a U-turn not far from where we catched it ... :D

Whew! Finally ... we could play with the sand again ...
HURRAY !!

Today Kate wants to "make" some, too.
Here it is:

sleepover ... @ KKH

Yesterday, 2 pm -- Kate was not well. Mum took her to A&E KKH again. We were there 41 hours earlier and have stayed there for 4 hours till 1 am.

Kate was not very very bad, though. Still can walk slowly, but of course she preferred not to. Mum was so worried because Kate had diarrhea and vomiting for 45 hours, always throwing up everything she took. She looked so restless, so after seen by the doctor, Mum decided to keep her at KKH before she became worse.

Here is the MOST INTERESTING part:
Since our 2nd visit to A&E, which means since the beginning of this story, Kate doesn't vomit anymore. She even finished her 1st meal at ward successfully: 1 full bowl of porridge!

Now she's home, feeling much better, even though her appetite has not come back yet, and feel not as strong as usual. But hopefully she'll be back to normal on Monday so she can enjoy her busy day ...

What a sleepover it is ! !

library

Kate likes to go to the library, because she likes to read books. She said, "I like to borrow books from the library, since most of the books there are nice."

We usually go to the National Library, since we live nearby.

sand castle

Not bad for the 2nd time :)

It was raining, so the sand was not as nice as earlier. And it was very coooold after the rain, so we didn't spend much time to do it.

Let's see how was the 1st time, 3 weeks earlier in the sunny day, below.

Starry Time

Nice, simple, but touching story…

Once upon a time, there were no stars in the sky.
Only the lonely moon shone at night. And since it was sad and alone, it gave off very little light.
One person had all the stars. He was not a powerful king. And she was not an evil witch. But a little girl named Stella. When Stella’s mother turned off her lights at night, Stella’s ceiling turned onto sparkles brighter than any Christmas tree.
Sometimes she felt as though she was looking down from an airplane over a city of lights.
Stella loved falling asleep under her starry ceiling. She always had bright and wonderful dreams. One day in school, she overheard some boys and girls talking. One boy said, “I can’t sleep at night. My room is very dark and I get scared.”
A girl agreed, “Me, too. That sad old moon doesn’t do any good. My room is as dark as a closet.”
Stella felt bad. She hadn’t known that she was the only one with stars in her room.
That night, when her mother turned off the lights, her ceiling lit up like the lights of a city. But Stella could not sleep. She thought about all of the boys and girls who were lying awake in the dark, and she felt sad.
She climbed out of bed, and opened her window. The moon hung sadly in the sky.
“Moon, why don’t you give off more light?” Stella asked.
“Because I’m lonely. I have to spend the whole night out here by myself. Sometimes I get scared.”
“I’m sorry,” Stella said. She was surprised that something as big and beautiful as the moon could get scared just like little boys and girls.
“Plus, I get tired,” said the moon. “It’s a big job to light the whole sky.”
Stella thought for a while.
“Moon,” she said, “Would my stars help to keep you company?”
“Yes,” said the moon.
“And would they make the sky brighter?”
“Yes, and they would make me happy.”
Stella stood back from her window. She looked up at her stars.
“You should go and help the moon,” she said. “I will miss you, but every night I will look out my window and see you in the sky.” She wiped a tear from her eye. “Now, go.”
With that, the stars burst from her ceiling and whirled around with a dazzling glow until they gained enough speed to shoot towards the moon. They streamed out of her window, and fanned out across the sky. It was the most beautiful sight Stella had ever seen.
From then on, the nights were brighter. The moon had many friends, and he beamed with happiness.
And with the light of the new night sky, grandmothers and grandfathers sat outside on their porches telling stories about old days. And young couples strolled hand in hand along the streets.
And best of all, Stella could sit outside with a friend, and they could watch the stars together.
